Minister of Finance James Flaherty presented the Conservative government's fifth federal budget on March 4, 2010.
A number of tax measures have been proposed in this Budget. Some of these proposals include amendments to Refunds under Regulation 105 and Section 116, Mineral Exploration Tax Credit, Accelerated Capital Cost Allowance for Clean Energy Generation, repeal of the tax deferral election and to clarify existing withholding requirements, stength anti-avoidance rules, repeal of the charitable expenditure rule, reform the charites disbursement quota for fiscal years that end on or after March 4, 2010, Employee Stock Options, interest paid on tax overpayments by corporations, SIFT Conversions and Loss Trading, Taxable Canadian Property, Foreign Investment Entities and Non-Resident Trusts, and Information Reporting of Tax Avoidance Transactions.
